I realize not all of you are on Facebook, therefore, not receiving all of our updates. I apologize for that and will try to do better about posting here too. Thank you for your continued love and prayers for our family in trying to bring our son, Daniel, home....
It has been exactly 5 months since we found out that we were matched with a precious Cheesy Mangoshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00898097430084385651noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1559441655110996128.post-74606000648105074642019-02-08T10:28:00.000-06:002019-02-08T10:29:15.828-06:00A "piece" of the puzzle
It has been MONTHS since I have sat down and written. Some because we have been busy loving
life, but also because I cannot find the words to write some of the time. We have taken the last months to grieve the loss of our girl. We are not over it, I don't think we ever will be. We still talk about her often and love her so much it hurts. We celebrated her birthday last week. It was a Cheesy Mangoshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00898097430084385651noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1559441655110996128.post-47915310070495738622018-10-22T13:09:00.001-05:002018-10-22T13:09:53.560-05:00Faith
What is faith?
We found out a few weeks ago, from the Philippines, that our request to be matched with our girl, was denied. Again. To say our world has been shattered would be an understatement. Our hearts hurt in a way that we haven’t felt before. I have had to try and answer questions from our children that I don’t have the answers to. We have had to bravely say that this is what seems to Cheesy Mangoshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00898097430084385651noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1559441655110996128.post-6754014775990982682018-08-24T13:48:00.001-05:002018-08-24T13:48:15.632-05:00Is it really the end of August already!?!I have been asking myself this question for days now. Where has the summer gone!? We have had a fun and busy summer doing the things that we love while enjoying the company of family and friends, old and new!
The boys have started soccer and they couldn't be happier being on the pitch again. They have been looking forward to this for a long time and we are excited to watch them play a sport theyCheesy Mangoshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00898097430084385651noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1559441655110996128.post-33290639420552359032018-05-21T15:58:00.005-05:002018-05-22T14:38:28.858-05:006 Months "Home"
It is crazy how fast time flies. I cannot believe that we have been home in the US for 6 months already. We endured the coldest and snowiest winter we have had in recent memory and were missing Cebu a little more after we got 30 inches of snow dumped on us in April!!! We are glad it melted quickly though :) A lot has happened in the last 6 months but also on some levels nothing at all. I will Cheesy Mangoshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00898097430084385651noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1559441655110996128.post-60782212039795643492018-02-21T15:19:00.000-06:002018-02-21T15:19:08.106-06:00Adoption Update
Hello all,
It is with heavy hearts that we tell you that we have been denied the girl we had requested to adopt. We were told that due to birth order we will not be able to precede with this particular girl. We are heart broken to say the least.
We have more questions then answers at this point. None of it makes sense. We were approved to move forward with the age Cheesy Mangoshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00898097430084385651noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1559441655110996128.post-59762284845040996332018-02-05T15:13:00.000-06:002018-02-05T15:13:16.217-06:00FUNdraiser OpportunityHi my friends! As most of you know by now, we are adopting :) A lot of you know, or could guess, that adoption is EXPENSIVE! And some of you have asked us how you can help, and for that we are grateful. It has been almost 3 months since we arrived back in the US. It still seems so surreal. I look at pictures and it is so hard to even imagine that we were in the tropics just 3 months ago. We traded palm trees and sunny blue skies for snow piles and ice covered roads. Shorts and tank tops for snow pants, hats, and gloves. It's interesting how there is so much beauty in such opposite scenes. We have been having a wonderful time with our loved ones as well. It is surreal for us to be here and to think about our last Christmas and our next Christmas and how much things have changed and will change for us. We are stateside again! Our trip from Cebu was pretty uneventful which is a good thing! We were able to get a little rest and meet some fun people along the way. The baggage people at check in provided us with much grace as our carry on bags were little over weight but didn't make us take stuff out PTL!!
We met a really fun guy from Cebu who we travelled with all the way to San FransiscoCheesy Mangoshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00898097430084385651noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1559441655110996128.post-63007904968036549982017-10-24T20:21:00.003-05:002017-10-24T20:21:58.086-05:0024 to 1424 to 14... that's months...
When we moved to the Philippines we planned on being here for 2 years. We knew that it would be at least the 2 years and possibly (probably?) longer. It never crossed our minds that it would be sooner. When we said goodbye, we prepared in our hearts and in our minds that it would be at least 24 months before we saw most of our friends and family again.
We left for Cheesy Mangoshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00898097430084385651noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1559441655110996128.post-85379817698917178342017-09-08T18:40:00.000-05:002017-09-08T18:40:10.890-05:00Can you believe it!?!
Where does the time go?!? It feels like just last month we were arriving here in Cebu, but at the same time it feels like we've been here forever. It's been a year! Can you believe it!?! It has been a whole year since we first arrived. We had no idea what our next weeks and months would look like. We have definitely had some ups and downs but glad to say more UPS then downs. It certainly Cheesy Mangoshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00898097430084385651noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1559441655110996128.post-53816867131079804622017-08-07T03:35:00.000-05:002017-08-07T03:35:04.604-05:00School's in Session! We have officially started our 2nd year of home school. We are actually 2 weeks in already! We decided a 4 day work week might work better for us then a 5 day work week so the days are a little longer and the school year is a little longer, but we are okay with that. The kids love having the extra "weekend" day and I love having the flexibility of a floating day during the week. We have built in Cheesy Mangoshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00898097430084385651noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1559441655110996128.post-11560461944686514512017-08-03T02:10:00.000-05:002017-08-03T02:10:03.863-05:00Church and Technology
It's not a secret how much we love our home church in Sturgeon Bay. It also isn't a secret how much we miss our church and our church family back in the states. While we haven't found anything close to what we are used to here, one thing remains the same. God's word. It doesn't matter whether it is being heard in English or Cebuano or Tagalog or whatever language. The Bible says the same Cheesy Mangoshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00898097430084385651noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1559441655110996128.post-47901365687792845142017-07-04T22:43:00.000-05:002017-07-05T18:58:52.236-05:00nine... NINE!!! Nine. That is the number of children that were told they have a mom and dad in the month of June. They will soon be leaving us to go live with an actual family! The excitement around a "telling" is so fun. Seeing a child for the first time after they have been told they have a family is so sweet. I often get teary eyed because I see the happiness, fear, excitement, sadness, and joy in their eyes Cheesy Mangoshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00898097430084385651noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1559441655110996128.post-9612396727987796692017-06-09T20:03:00.000-05:002017-06-13T23:00:32.065-05:00Schools out for SUMMER!!!!!!
These children. These children right here are ROCK STARS!!! We are officially DONE with our first year of homeschooling. I have been seeing a lot of first day of school pictures vs last day of school pictures on Facebook. It is so fun to see how much everyone has changed in 9 short months. The differences in appearance is no different for our children. Their height has changed and their hair Cheesy Mangoshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00898097430084385651noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1559441655110996128.post-36521735450258583952017-06-02T01:05:00.000-05:002017-06-02T01:05:10.076-05:00Summer Activities
As I have mentioned before, summer is in full swing here. The kiddos and I, have had the beautiful opportunity to teach the 5 and 6 year olds in a summer activity type class these last few weeks. We are kind of making it up as we go and are having so much fun with it! Mady has been a huge help with reading stories, helping color, and doing projects that go along with what we are learning Cheesy Mangoshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00898097430084385651noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1559441655110996128.post-92184102470938031452017-05-23T19:07:00.000-05:002017-05-23T19:07:36.973-05:006 Month VideoFor those of you who have not seen our video of our first 6 months yet, here it is. We (mostly Jake) had a lot of fun putting it together. It was really hard trying to narrow down the pictures but we think this highlights our time here so far pretty well. Enjoy!! Love to you all!!

The boys picked soccer camp as their summer activity to do along side some of the kiddos at CSC. They have been having a great time learning new skills and keeping their feet on the ball. As a result of that, we met a coach who coaches a U11 soccer team and a U13 soccer team! Is that crazy or what!?! Boodle fight! What in the world!?! Yeah, we didn't know what that was either, but soon found out. The kids had a fun day hanging out with the social workers and then they treated them to what they call a Boodle Fight. I mean, what kid wouldn't love to eat with their fingers with food spread out all down the table. It is really strange for us as we sit in the middle of April and everyone around us is talking about what they are doing for summer break. As y'all know, summer in the states is June through August. Typically schools are getting out for the summer in early June and returning again for another year in late August or Early September. Here, our summer runs from April to June. I love a good rain. I love the smell of rain. This morning as I woke out of my morning slumber, I heard the rain on our roof. Pitter patter, pitter patter. It's a great sound, so relaxing. One of my favorite things to do when it is raining out is to curl up on the couch with a hot cup of coffee and a good book and listen to the rain. Rain is a good thing. Cooking here is an absolute adventure. Trying to find ingredients for a certain recipe is a total treasure hunt! We have turned it into a game instead of an annoyance (or we would go batty). I know, it's been awhile. Sorry about that. I love how busy we are with life here but don't love that I don't make the time to check in every week like I wanted to!
Recently we (the Schulz clan) were able to get out of the city for awhile and enjoy some much needed R and R and some beach time!
